((I ship Mycroft/Arthur now. Because of reasons.))
Sherlock was right to say Mycroft is the embodiment of the British Government. He oversees, he controls, he snaps his fingers and makes things happen; he has tea with the Queen once a week and a brandy with the Prime Minister every Saturday. Sherlock was right, as he always is, he had been wrong if he had said Mycroft is England. After all Mycroft knows England; he knows he takes his tea with honey and milk, never sugar. And he watched telly, and cooks bad scones. Mycroft also knows England possesses more information than he would ever get from the Queen and the Prime Minister combined; powerful, decisive information, after all someone so old had to acquire the means to survive among the powerful, and information is power. He has never been very patriotic, but there isn’t a reason he couldn’t start now. Love thy country and your country shall provide.
